Frida Escobedo has been chosen by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to lead the $500 million redesign of its modern and contemporary art wing, soon to be named after trustees Oscar L. Tang and Agnes Hsu-Tang. This makes Escobedo the first woman to design a wing at the iconic museum. Met director Max Hollein lauded her as an "outstanding architect" known for creating poignant spatial and communal experiences. Escobedo's architectural philosophy intertwines the realms of art, culture, and socio-economic themes. Her contributions and perspectives in the architectural realm have been recognized at institutions like Harvard, where she's contributed to courses and publications.
